Women Owned Businesses - What to know

Last week I attended the WBENC Women’s Business Enterprise National Council Conference!

I met Sandra Eberhard President of Metro NY & Greater DMV WBENC chapter a few weeks ago, after hearing her podcast on The EOS Life.

We bonded over being outspoken and proudly advocating for women and the need for women to support each other in the business world.

WBENC creates business content like educational workshops on finance in alliance with banks, education on supply chain and diversity.

In that effort, WBENC partnered with EOS (The Entrepreneurial Operating System) to educate women owned businesses with in depth workshops on the five foundational tools of EOS. The accountability chart, Rocks, (90 day priority goals) , level 10 meetings, Scorecard and the Vision Traction Organizer.

WBENC Helps create community by way of the conference, get togethers and online forums. They also actively work on connecting women owned businesses to opportunities like access to corporate brands (Wels Fargo, Hilton, Mass Mutual, Coco Cola and more) looking to partner and do business with women owned companies and give them visibility. The conference is a large venue for this.

The ultimate goal is to fuel the economy through women owned businesses.

If 50% of all small businesses fail in the first 5 years, imagine how many more women owned businesses fail in the first 5 years!

As women in business we find ourselves breaking the status quos, glass ceilings and sacrifice a lot to earn success in business. That success comes with an extra dose of pride. It means so much more to us.

It is a badge of honor.

Yet, us women are emotional creatures by nature. We have the 6th sense of nurture and intuition. And on the way up, we want to nurture and carry everyone along with us. That’s a lot of weight to carry and can come at a great price.

There are so many resources for financial, emotional and business support for women.

The Entreprenista Organization, Women’s President Organization, Enterprising Women and dozens of other local organizations.

It is my true passion to support women owned businesses.

To give those businesses the framework to learn how to find the right people to support them in their vision, define the roles of everyone in the company so they are all on the same page with discipline and actionable data with measurables so these women owners can constantly have a pulse on their business and feel like they are moving forward, with a supportive team and achieving their ultimate vision.

Encourage the women business owners in your life to create a support circle for themselves so they can create a sustainable growing business for generations to come.

Thank you for reading,

Rachel.
